Who We Are
Truckers Feeding the Homeless (TFTH) is a nonprofit organization rooted in service, logistics, and community collaboration.
Founded by professional truck drivers who witnessed food insecurity and homelessness firsthand, TFTH has grown into a multi-partner effort focused on delivering food, essential resources, and hope to underserved communities.
Our work is grounded in dignity, coordination, and compassion—meeting immediate needs while supporting pathways toward long-term stability.
Our Story
TFTH began as a network of professional truck drivers connected by friendship, shared experience, and constant communication across the country. Created by Fredrick Claxton (Choicemas), the group—originally known as The Stoop—brought together people from every walk of life who treated one another like family despite the miles between them.
Truck drivers often see America differently. Moving city to city, mile by mile, they witness communities as they truly are—both thriving and struggling. That perspective would become central to TFTH’s mission.
In August 2018, while attending the Great American Truck Show in Dallas, Texas, members of the group were struck by the number of men, women, and families experiencing homelessness along the streets and highways. Later that evening, after sharing a meal together, leftover food sparked a simple but powerful idea: share what we have.
What began with fewer than 20 meals quickly revealed a far greater need. The group returned to prepare more food and went back out again—still not enough to serve everyone, but enough to plant the seed for something lasting.
From Compassion to Coordinated Action
That moment in Dallas became the foundation of Truckers Feeding the Homeless.
In March 2019, TFTH organized its next outreach during the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky, serving nearly 400 individuals. Later that year, returning to Dallas, TFTH served and clothed 675 men, women, and children, and distributed over 600 care packages with essential hygiene items.
What began as a spontaneous act of kindness evolved into a structured mission centered on consistency, accountability, and partnership.
Our Mission
Truckers Feeding the Homeless mobilizes people, partnerships, and logistics to reduce food insecurity and support individuals experiencing homelessness—one community, one mile at a time.
We believe:
• Hunger is a solvable problem
• Dignity must be central to service
• Collaboration multiplies impact
• Logistics can be a force for good
How We Work
TFTH operates at the intersection of logistics, service, and community. By coordinating volunteers, donated resources, and partner organizations, we help move food and essential supplies efficiently and responsibly to communities in need.
Our approach emphasizes collaboration, transparency, and responsible distribution—ensuring that support reaches people with care and respect.
Looking Ahead
TFTH envisions a future with community-based Feeding Chapters across the United States, supported by local partners, sponsors, and volunteers. Beyond addressing immediate hunger, we aim to help connect individuals with employment opportunities, training, and educational resources—creating pathways toward stability and independence.
We strive to be a foundation people can build upon as they move forward.
Leadership
Truckers Feeding the Homeless is co-founded and led by Fredrick Claxton and Sharon Watts, whose combined experience in logistics, leadership, and service shapes the organization’s mission and direction.
Fredrick Claxton, Co-Founder, is a logistics professional and community advocate whose firsthand experience in transportation and operations helped shape TFTH’s grassroots beginnings. His leadership focuses on coordination, partnership development, and building scalable systems that turn compassion into consistent community impact.
Sharon Watts, Co-Founder, is a retired U.S. Army veteran with nearly 23 years of service, retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant. During her military career, she served as a Senior Human Resources Manager and as a Military Truck Driver. Sharon also has a long-standing commitment to volunteerism and community service, supporting communities both domestically and internationally.
Together, they lead TFTH with a shared commitment to dignity, accountability, and collaboration—combining operational discipline, leadership development, and compassion to serve communities effectively and sustainably.
Our Commitment
Meaningful change doesn’t happen overnight. It happens through steady action, shared responsibility, and trust.
One mile at a time.
